As part of the 2024 awards by the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV), Dr. Berat Haznedaroğlu, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Boğaziçi University, has been honored with the “Dr. Akın Çakmakcı Pioneer Researcher Award” for his work in the development of high value-added, algae-based products.

The 2024 awards of the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) have been announced. In this context, the "Dr. Akın Çakmakcı Pioneer Researcher Award" was granted to Dr. Berat Haznedaroğlu, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Boğaziçi University, for his work in developing high value-added algae-based products. The awards were presented at a ceremony held in Ankara.

Commenting on the award, Dr. Haznedaroğlu expressed their happiness at the national and international recognition of the ongoing R&D studies conducted at Europe’s first and only carbon-negative microalgae biorefinery, located on Boğaziçi University's Kilyos-Sarıtepe Campus.

Due to her research and efforts contributing to pioneering industrial applications in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies, Elif Erdinç Arca received the award in the category of "Refik Üreyen Change Leader Award".

Pressura, a company focused on developing high-strength fiber-reinforced composite pressure vessels for transporting and storing clean hydrogen, was honored with the "Dr. Fikret Yücel Pioneer Organization Award".

In the "Mehmet Şuhubi Pioneer Civil Initiative Award" category, the award was presented to the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) for its policy research efforts related to climate change.
