Boğaziçi University Faculty Members Achieve Success in MSCA-PF-2025

Within the Horizon Europe Programme coordinated by Türkiye and the European Union, Boğaziçi University faculty members have been awarded support for the projects they prepared in the Scientific Excellence cluster.

Boğaziçi University Faculty Members Achieve Success in MSCA-PF-2025

The results of the Horizon Europe Programme's Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-Postdoctoral Fellowships) 2025 call, which received over 17,000 applications, have been announced. Out of 155 project applications submitted from Türkiye, 8 projects, including one coordinated by Boğaziçi University, have been awarded a total of 1.76 million euros in grants.

Asst. Prof. Koray Malcı from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Boğaziçi University has been awarded funding under the European Union's Postdoctoral Fellowships Program for a project he will conduct under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Ulaş Tezel from the Boğaziçi University Institute of Environmental Sciences. The project, titled “Intelligent Microbial Platform for Plastic Valorisation via AI-guided Synthetic Biology” (Val-PLAS), focuses on using AI-guided synthetic biology methods and smart microbial platforms in plastic waste valorization processes.

As a result of the call, Boğaziçi University academics have also certified their research and scientific achievements on an international level. Asst. Prof. Emre Kuşakçı from the Department of Physics, Asst. Prof. Ayşegül Göğüş from the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, and Asst. Prof. Veysel Yıldız from the Department of Civil Engineering was awarded the 'MSCA Seal of Excellence' by scoring 85 and above in the European Commission evaluations, thanks to the high-quality projects they prepared under the MSCA-Postdoctoral Fellowships call. Moreover, Asst. Prof. Emine Kazanç from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was granted the 'MSCA Above Threshold' award.
