Published annually by Times Higher Education, the rankings assess universities based on their global performance. In the 2026 results, Boğaziçi University stood out particularly for its progress in research quality and industry collaboration. In the overall World University Rankings, the University advanced by approximately 200 positions compared to previous years, securing a place in the 401–500 band.

This achievement was realized under THE’s updated evaluation framework, known as “WUR 3.0,” which places greater emphasis on research quality, knowledge generation, and patent impact. Within this methodology, Boğaziçi University distinguished itself through its strong research infrastructure, interdisciplinary academic output, and high-quality scholarly performance. The results highlight the University’s sustainable and internationally competitive research ecosystem.

Global Recognition in Education and Social Sciences

The 2026 rankings reaffirm Boğaziçi University’s long-established strength in Education and Social Sciences. In the Social Sciences category, which includes disciplines such as Political Science, Sociology, and International Relations, the University improved its position to the 201–250 band worldwide. In parallel, Education remained one of the University’s strongest fields, ranking in the 201–250 band despite intensified global competition, and maintaining its position among the world’s leading institutions.

Significant Progress in Business, Economics, and Arts & Humanities

Boğaziçi University recorded notable progress in Business and Economics, rising from the 301–400 band in previous years to the 251–300 band in 2026. A similar upward trend was observed in Arts and Humanities, where the University advanced from the 401–500 band to the 251–300 band, reflecting broad-based academic improvement.

Stable Performance in Engineering and Computer Science

In Engineering and Computer Science, Boğaziçi University maintained its position in the 401–500 band, continuing to demonstrate its international competitiveness in these fields. Under THE’s revised methodology, increased visibility of research quality, industry partnerships, and innovative academic outputs further confirmed the University’s strong and sustainable academic foundation in technical disciplines.

The THE 2026 World University Rankings by Subject once again validate Boğaziçi University’s comprehensive academic structure—ranking among the global top 250 in Education and Social Sciences, showing rapid advancement in Business, Economics, and Arts & Humanities, and maintaining stability in Engineering and Computer Science.
