In the first two months of 2026, Boğaziçi University’s sports teams returned with medals and trophies from every national competition they participated in, spanning athletics, rowing, winter sports, and combat disciplines.

Throughout January and February 2026, Boğaziçi University teams successfully represented the University in a wide range of national competitions. From athletics and combat sports to team and winter sports, these achievements stand as a testament to the discipline, dedication, and strong team spirit of our student-athletes.

At the Indoor Athletics Turkey Championship held in Bursa and organized by the University Sports Federation of Türkiye, the Boğaziçi University Athletics Team won a total of six medals.Ece Karaağaç placed second place in the women’s high jump, while Neşat Barış Bayraktar finished third in the men’s 60-meter final with a time of 7.02 seconds.

The men’s relay team also secured third place nationwide, marking a significant milestone in the University’s relay history. This historic achievement was accomplished by İbrahim Salim Özmen, Salih Balcı, Harun Üner, and Neşat Barış Bayraktar, who etched their names into the University’s athletics history.Competing for the first time at the Interuniversity Muay Thai Turkey Championship, also organized by the same federation, the University achieved notable success in this discipline as well. Zeynep Cemre Akıllı (women’s 67 kg) and Arda Behçet Şenses (men’s 60 kg) each earned bronze medals, finishing third in Turkey in their respective categories.

Success in Team and Winter Sports

Our American Football Team concluded the group stage of the Turkish American Football First League in third place following an away game against Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi, successfully completing the season.

At the Interuniversity Winter Sports Turkey Championship (Üni Lig), our ski and snowboard teams also delivered strong performances. The ski team placed second in Istanbul in both the women’s and men’s categories, while the snowboard team secured third place in Istanbul.

Double Trophy for the Rowing Team

At the competition held in Istanbul Ataköy and organized by the Turkish Rowing Federation, the Boğaziçi University Rowing Team achieved outstanding results. The men’s team finished third overall, earning the third-place trophy, while the women’s team secured second place, bringing home the runner-up trophy for the University.
