2025 China–Türkiye Forum at Boğaziçi University

The 2025 China–Türkiye Forum, organized by the Boğaziçi University Confucius Institute, brought together academics and experts through a series of panels aimed at deepening cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

2025 China–Türkiye Forum at Boğaziçi University

Organized by the Boğaziçi University Confucius Institute (CIBU) in collaboration with the Boğaziçi University Asian Studies Center, the forum was held on December 8, 2025, at Boğaziçi University. The event was realized with the contributions of the Jingdezhen Store Türkiye Branch and the Turkish–Chinese Business Association.

The forum opened with an inaugural address by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, Vice Rector of Boğaziçi University. Jian Shang, Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Istanbul, also delivered a speech during the opening session. In addition, participants were introduced by representatives of the Confucius Institute.

Throughout the day, the forum featured three panel sessions. The first panel focused on global media circulations and performance studies. Dr. Jianping Mao, Prof. Dr. Arzu Öztürkmen, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Qianwen Zhou examined Chinese and transnational cultural interactions from different perspectives within the context of media, performance, and digital markets.

The second panel addressed Sinology studies and academic interactions between China and Türkiye. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Sarıtaş and Prof. Dr. Giray Fidan discussed current research trends in the field of Sinology as well as mutual learning processes between China and Türkiye.

The third panel explored texts, historical transformations, and cultural interactions in the Eurasian context. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İnci Erdoğdu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihriban Aydın, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hale Eroğlu delivered presentations on topics including Chinese written culture, historical documents, and Islamic reformism in modern China.

Making a significant contribution to strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, the forum concluded with a session that encouraged the exchange of knowledge and experience among scholars.As part of the event, participants were also presented with a documentary and exhibition titled “Rhythms of Chinese Cuisine.”
